Liverpool Christmas Market 2022

29/11/2022

The festive season is here and everyone is feeling as Christmassy as ever, even if the weather is dreadful and full of rain – but wrap up warm and flourish an umbrella, because the Liverpool Christmas Markets are here!

Comfort food and beverages are a staple in winter: hot chocolates, hog roasts and steins full of beer. The Liverpool Christmas Markets did not lack any of these home comforts, and had multiple stalls for hot chocolate (alcoholic if desired, because come on, we are British), as well as stalls to roast marshmallows and chestnuts over open fires.

The whole market radiated warmth and the vibes were cheerful.

I visited the Christmas Markets on a Tuesday, which I thought would cause it to be quieter, however, I personally think it was the perfect time to visit if you prefer less people but still atmospheric. However, I did go later in the evening so this could have been affected, as I did notice there was less children during this time, so if you don't like kids… perfect.

I found that there was a few identical stalls which became slightly repetitive whilst walking round which was a shame, but the immense amount of food filled the air with many different aromas – which definitely added to the winter feeling – the air filled with the smell of pork baps and German sausages.

I have a trained eye when it comes to sweet goods, and honed in on the most incredible selection of muffins, brownies and cookies. Obviously had to treat myself to a few, deciding on both a bueno muffin and a crunchy muffin and they exceeded my expectations.

From fairground rides, to 'win a teddy' games, there was a little collection of fun things for adults and kids to play with, however I would personally say they are slightly too expensive to be able to enjoy yourself too much on them. We decided to try and win a teddy by throwing balls at tin cans to knock them over. It was £5 for three balls and the balls were small soft almost 'dog toy' like, and I would argue that it isn't worth the price.

Overall the Liverpool Christmas Markets were an enjoyable visit, however things were a bit on the spenny side, but if you're looking for a little walk around to have a look, the vibes are immaculate and really induce that warm christmassy feeling for the whole family.
