It's December, and this year is looking to be our first normal Christmas since Covid-19. From family outings to work do's, everybody is looking for fun ways to spend the festive season. Albert's Schloss took over Manchester in 2015, and now they've made their way to Liverpool.

Albert's Schloss Liverpool is a Bavarian themed venue. They held their opening launch party on Thursday the 8th of December but were open a week prior with the restaurant being sold out over the weekend before. The preparation was underway months prior, being under construction on Bold Street, leaving the Liverpool public curious on what was going to appear.

Albert's Schloss operate on 7 days a week showtime including cabarets, Baby Grand Slams, and a range of different DJ's. They are currently looking to extend to provide a place for "homegrown Liverpool artists", General Manager, Andrew Chesworth-Wiggin claims.

Andrew Chesworth – Wiggin has been working with the umbrella business Mission Mars for years and holds Albert's Schloss close to his heart.

"Liverpool has always been a city close to Mission Mars heart. The founder of the business, Roy Ellis, lives on the Wirral and Liverpool is a big city within the Northwest. The Liverpool crown is a big fan of what we offer here at Schloss."

They were finally able to enter the building after being delayed by two years due to Covid-19. Once they were able to start their renovations, they spent close to 3.8 million on ensuring that the business was everything that they wanted it to be.

"The main aspect we were focused on was maintaining our brand. We have a strong brand that was developed in Manchester and continued to our Birmingham venue in 2021. Our brand consists of things like the long tables, the copper and the shuffleboard as well as the stage and the long island bar." Andrew states. He believes that the atmosphere is world class, and this is the thing that sets them apart from other competitors even though he doesn't feel like there is much competition in the city.

However, there has been controversy surrounding the fact that the business operates on a 21 and over policy after 8pm. With Liverpool being a city with many students, some people believe that this can seriously affect the revenue of the business.

One of our own, Sam Wilson, says "I think this is stupid because it gives the impression of being pretentious. If they wanted to do over 21, go to an area that holds more of an older demographic, not the area which many students spend their time out, meaning many first years are held back from visiting somewhere which comes across as a really fun place to spend an evening".

However, Mr Chesworth-Wiggins argues that "we personally don't have anything against students, but we have found that the younger crowd tend to get a little rowdy and are not quite so advanced in managing their own alcohol intake."

We would love to hear your opinions on this story, and if you believe that the Over 21 policy is justified or just restricts people to an unnecessary level.
